You see them everyday, fancy little designs and artsy templates on Myspace pages. Many Myspace users choose to use a personalized layout for their Myspace. They are unique, and much more interesting than the traditional Myspace default page. The internet comes bundled with tons of options to make your page all about YOU.

A myspace layout is written in HTML, or hyper text markup language. This code allows an image, and several other customizations to be presented on the user’s page. These come in literally millions of varieties, and an endless amount of unique options are available across the web. Myspace only accepts HTML, so you will only be able to use an “html code” in the edit boxes.

If you want to make your own myspace layout, you need to know a bit of HTML to do so and possibly have Photoshop skills to make your work 100% unique. HTML is easy to learn, and there are plenty of resources available. After you have the HTML down pat, fiddle with coding, and how you would like your page to appear for other users. Be careful though, some layouts are not usable on firefox, IE, and vice versa. Overloading your layout with images will cause users with slow connections to not be able to visit. It’s also inconsiderate of others, if you flood your page so that others cannot even view it. After all, what is the point in having a public friend page, if no one can visit?

Don’t know how to write HTML, or cant seem to learn it? There are tons of websites dedicated to providing you with pre-designed layouts and templates. There is bound to be at least one thing you like, with categories ranging from retro to video games, and everything in between. Obscure subjects are also available for a layout, you just have to dig around.

A few other resources for finding the perfect myspace layout, is googling what you want, or visiting skem9, whatever life, and some other graphic artists on myspace. Many people are willing to create customized personal layouts at no charge, or for a simple friend add. Designers are usually picky about their work, and request that you do not remove their credit.
