Discover the secret to becoming The Leading Expert

It becomes very easy to get excited about a potential industry only to find out that it is not going to produce any results for you. Often we find something we are truly interested in, but unfortunately there is not enough demand for that topic and we fall short.

This can be a very emotional situation where you put so much time into getting a business going only to find out that there is nothing to be excited about because no one likes what you have to offer. You can then feel like you are back at step one with no results and overwhelmed wondering what is the next place for you to go with your business.

You can figure out what the customers in your niche want through many different avenues like magazines, journals, and newspapers. For an online business these can be great avenues to help you figure out what is the right product to fit your consumer to make them very happy.

I would suggest first you get some java and then take a trip to the nearest bookstore so that way you can get some answers and also save some gas! If you go to a Barnes & Noble or a Borders go to the area where your books would be located in your niche and check out how many books exist on your topic. The more the better and you want to see a row of books and not just a couple books.

The next step won’t require you to leave your home, but instead sit down to your computer and go type your phrase in Google with the parenthesis around it. You want to do this to figure out how many competing pages you have with that keyword in it. If you see under 100,000 competing pages then you are in a good situation.

Also you want to check without parenthesis to see how many sponsored links exist. If you have more than ten you are probably doing well with that keyword because that means others have realized there is potential with that keyword and it is worth going after.

Last you want to check the Google Adwords Keyword Tool to see how many searches there are for a keyword on the internet. I like this tool because Google obviously is going to know their own traffic better than anyone and it is pretty accurate. I would suggest checking the average search volume monthly with the exact phrase instead of broad or phrase options because this will really water down your results and give you a realistic or even underestimating traffic results. You want to shoot for at least 100,000 on your average search results.

This will be a good way for you to get an idea of how difficult a keyword is and what size potential you have in an industry. It will help you be more comfortable with your choice for whatever business you decide.
